Defined as "Tightly coiled / curled unaltered hair - coiled hair in its natural state as found
on people of African descent who do not chemically alter their hair texture
Although seemingly a self explanatory word - this word sparks many debates and can be highly offensive to some. In the following clip, famed hairstylist Marcia Hamilton discusses her interetation of the word "nappy" and how it came to become part of her vocabulary.
